College of Science

About this Degree

Secondary Science Educators cover a wide range of science disciplines such as Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Earth Sciences and Computer Science. The Science field develops constantly, and it is important for Secondary Science teachers to stay current. The College of Science helps students do this by incorporating recent research results into the classroom, providing research opportunities, and inviting them to participate in research seminars and presentations.

Students will receive a BS by completing all required courses in their major. To receive a BA, students must also gain proficiency in one or more foreign languages. A bachelor’s degree in the Secondary Science Teaching major includes: University Studies and coursework, as required by the College of Science; the Teaching major; and the Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP). Students majoring in the Secondary Science Teaching major will complete courses which provide an in-depth understanding of Scientific principles.

All major and STEP requirements may not be taken as a pass/fail grade. A minimum grade of C or better is required in all major course work.

The Secondary Science Teaching program is fully accredited by the Utah State Office of Education.

For further information, students should contact their academic advisor.
