About This Degree

The degree requires students have a substantial understanding of the criminal justice system in general. It reflects the realities and concerns of society and draws from a wide variety of academic disciplines such as political science, psychology, history and sociology.

Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in Criminal Justice courses and an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and overall USU GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate. Criminal Justice courses over 10 years old do not count toward the major requirement. 50% of classes need to be taken at USU.

Admission Requirements for This Program


  • New freshmen must be admitted to USU in Good Standing.
  • Transfer students from other institutions or other programs at USU must have a 2.75 GPA.

Major Requirements (60 credits)


Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in Criminal Justice courses and an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and overall USU GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate. Classes taken P/F and earning a “P” grade cannot be counted toward the major without special permission. You must earn a grade of “C” or better in CJ 1010, and a “C-” or better in all other courses to be counted toward the degree.
